The script was completely different than the movie and, in my opinion, much better. I thought it was funnier, the main character was less annoying and painful, and all the crisis' of the movie were much more justified. I really thought the movie was shit so I'm glad that at one time it was actually supposed to be good. They truly made a horrible movie from this script. If I were the one who wrote this, I'd be extremely displeased with the final film.

I haven't seen the movie yet but I can tell from previews etc that the script was changed quite a bit so I'm interested to see the differences. By almost all reports the movie was hilarious and while I laughed out loud a few times reading the script there were definitely sections that needed some zippier dialogue and more consistent jokes.

Danielle-- this is the first draft of the script. It's not even finished. But most of it is very much the same in the finished film, so I'm puzzled by your comment. Personally, I'm quite taken with the breezy style Ms. Mumolo and Ms. Wiig displayed in this, their first script. I also thought they made a wonderfully funny film which seems to me to be an indictment of the very institution of marriage. I give this version of the script 9 stars, but the version they shot I give a 10. Comedy is pain, and the best writers get that, even if they don't know anything else about scriptwriting.

This movie is hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing! I smile every time I think about it.

I read the script and fell in love with it. It’s absolutely hilarious. When I saw the film I was really shocked. Totally different and not really for the better. I felt like they had a great script and perhaps after adding and or tweaking some dialogue, they should have shot it from the pages. My first impression of the movie was that it tried too hard for laughs and shock value, as if Ms. Mumolo’s version would not have been "enough" for audiences. It just seemed to be an over kill of extra when it didn’t have to be. In the script, I saw Annie as down to earth, a girl who needed direction in life and who seemed to always make poor decisions. In the film, she was frail, pathetic, and desperate.

Danielle. Why ya got to be like that. No sense of humor.

This was also written by Kristen Wiig. You should put that. They co-wrote it.

This doesn't even seem real. It is so radically different. Huge plot points in the movie are changed here. For example, in the movie she hasn't baked since Cake Baby closed but here she gives Ted lemon bars made from scratch. Also, the entire section where Annie and Lillian are in the park is cut. It simply makes no sense why they would create that scene when it was nowhere in the script. Fact of the matter is that this seems fake.

Oh my god I absolutely loved this movie. I had my wedding just like hers, I even named my kids Helen and Annie. I think that this movie has to be the best movie out in the 20th century! Amen. Xoxo gossip goat.

In what part of the script is the scene where they have the dual speech in with Annie and Hellen?

So, just so you know they've had other staff writers working on this draft already, and no they're not credited, and yes I know for a fact. That's how hollywood works unfortunately.

Lots of comments here from people who obviously didn't take note that this is a draft*** The script was probably written a handful of times after this and before they wrote the final shooting script. Things also have to be altered in order to get the film green-lit so it's a no brainer that things would need to be cut and changed. That being said, both the script and the final film are absolutely brilliant and I am very pleased with both! Very funny and lovable, relatable characters.

Draft or not the misspellings were very distracting and the misuse of your and you're made we want to stop reading.
